F.A.Q.
Frequently asked questions: (please note, the answers to the following questions are brief, for more information, please call us or e-mail us).
1.Q. Does my windshield really have something to do with the roof structure?
1. A. Yes! up to 60% in a roll over and up to 45% in a front or side impact.
2. Q. How long does it take to replace a windshield?
2.A. Most vehicles will take anywhere from 1-4 hours to complete. We remove all cowls, (the plastic part on the bottom of the windshield). The vehicles must then lay dormant anywhere from 1/2 hour to 12 hours. This all depends on the type of adhesive used.
3. Q. Will my insurance cover it?
3.A. If you have comprehensive insurance with a zero or low deductible, the insurance company will pay the network and the network will reimburse the glass shop of your choice. In most cases you will be talking with a TPA/Network when you make the claim, this is why we suggest you call in the claim from our office. This way we are right here to assist with any questions, etc; you might have.
4. Q. What is a TPA or Network?
4.A. A TPA is a third party administrator that is employed by a network that handles your insurance companies claims processing. A TPA or the network is not your insurance company. You, the insured have the right to choose your own shop to perform the work.
5. Q. My car has some rust, will this affect the seal?
5. A. Always! All rust underneath the glass "must" be repaired. Rust will cause leakage, stress cracks and a windshield that could "pop" out, leaving everyone in the vehicle at risk should the vehicle be in an accident.
6. Q. How dark can my glass be?
6. A. This all depends on your states Department of Motor Vehicles and state laws. Most states have a 70% light transmission. Specialty vehicles could have different rules.
7.Q. Do you offer mobile service?
7.A. Yes but under certain circumstances. The temperature must be above 50 degrees, no moisture in the air,(too humid, rain or snow), and not windy. Dust and pollen and the other factors mentioned all affect the outcome of the replacement. With any of the above or cold winter temperatures, installations need to be performed inside a warm space.
